Alumni Insight 2018 Conference Call - Howard Medicine Matters

Please register below to join us for the call this evening, Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. ET, for this special edition of Alumni Insight to learn about a critical issue posing a major threat to Howard University College of Medicine. President Wayne A. I. Frederick and Dean Hugh E. Mighty will lead the call.

We need alumni to participate in this discussion and act. The D.C. Council is positioned to approve legislation next week on December 4th that would pave the way for an exclusive deal for a new hospital in wards 7 and 8 that excludes Howard’s faculty physicians, medical students, and residents from providing services and training at the new hospital.

This proposal threatens the viability of Howard’s College of Medicine. The current agreement will:

  • Cause a decline in revenue and patients at HUH, causing insufficient volume for training medical students and residents;
  • Disrupt the pipeline of minority physicians training that serves D.C. and the nation; and,
  • Hinder HU College of Medicine academic missions.

How can you help? Start by registering below and being on this call! A brief Q&A session will follow the dialogue. Questions should be sent to kaleab.debebe@howard.edu.
