David Oliver, Track & Field

David Oliver is an Olympian who won the bronze medal in the 110 meter hurdles at the 2008 Beijing summer games.

At the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, Olivier won a gold medal. He also won a bronze at the 2010 World Indoor Championships in Doha, Qatar. He remains the American record holder in the 110 meter hurdles.

But before all of that occurred, the late Coach Mike Merritt recruited Oliver from Denver’s East High School to compete for Howard University.

From 2001 to 2004, Oliver won four consecutive MEAC outdoor titles, was the 2003 indoor champion in the 55 meter hurdles and was named All-American in 2003 and 2004.

He also played football at Howard and was invited for tryouts with two NFL teams.

After graduating in 2004, Oliver moved to Florida to pursue a professional track career.
