Chester Williams Roebuck (Chet) attended Howard University from 1974 to 1979 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Chet’s family has a rich legacy of educational excellence at Howard University. Chet’s mother, Addie Williams Roebuck (class of 1938) and more than 50 of his family members have graduated from Howard University over the past century. Chet was a proud Bison and loved being a member of the Howard University community as exhibited by the lifelong friendships he maintained with classmates and his steadfast support of the University through his work with the Howard University Alumni Association. Chet formed a great relationship with the Atlanta Alumni Club. Among other contributions, for years Chet served as the all-knowing Washington tour guide when the alumni club brought high schoolers on the annual trip to visit Howard. No one did it better than Chet!
The Chester Williams Roebuck Prize awards scholarships to incoming, transferring, and current undergraduate Howard University students who reside in Atlanta, GA, or the surrounding area. This scholarship is offered to assist young leaders to continue Chet’s legacy for themselves, for Howard University, and for our global community. The HUACA will select the students and award the scholarship to the deserving student in July 2024.
